Vineyard Map

The concept of field blending is simple enough: the grapes are blended in the vineyard. The Ancient block on Old Hill consists of over 30 grape varieties growing promiscuously, side by side. And they aren’t just grown together, they’re harvested and fermented together too. Think of it as a ménage à thirty.

The “Anatomy of a Field Blend” map shows the mosaic that is Old Hill Ranch. While the map itself was pretty easy to make, the difficulty lay in learning the identity of the grape varieties. Yet looking back, it is hard for me to imagine managing this vineyard without this knowledge.
